Children's Book ProjectCurrently the class is working on partner projects that involve writing and illustrating 4th grade picture books depicting parts of Douglass' story. The project is focused on learning about writing and editing with audience and purpose in mind. They are learning how to censor very graphic material in order to tailor it for a younger audience without compromising the historical accuracy or impact of the story. Once the projects are completed, we will be visiting Ms. Lutley's room to read and present our books to the 4th graders.
*** Update*** Students are nearly done with their projects, We have one more publishing step and by the end of the week their books should be completed and ready to print! |

Final Exams
Our final exam for ELA Grade 7 will be held on June 13th. The exam will consist of 50 multiple choice questions and 5 short answer writing prompts. Students were provided with a Grade 7 Content Vocabulary List. We will be reviewing the terms on this in class prior to finals; however, it is highly recommended students study this list at home and ensure they are familiar with all the terms on it in preparation for their exam. The writing portion of the exam will ask them about the last three pieces of literature studied in class; Pygmalion, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave, and Fredrick Douglass' speech The meaning of July Fourth for the Negro. Both books are available in the classroom for the students to borrow to study and each student was provided with a copy of the speech as well. Students should be sure they are familiar with the characters, plot and themes of each of these pieces.
