"Flush" by Carl HiaasenWe've just finished the fictional novel "Flush" by Carl Hiassen which is a fast paced and often funny story of a boy and his family trying to catch and stop a gambling boat captain from dumping his boats sewage into the basin where it docks in the Florida Keys. Although fictional, the book does illuminate the many dangers of contamination to the ecological systems that depend on ocean water.

Final Exams:
ELA Final Exam for Grade 6 will be June 13th. The exam consists of 60 Multiple Choice Questions as well as 4 short answer writing prompts. Students were provided with an ELA 6th Grade Content Vocabulary List. We will be reviewing the terms on this list in class prior to the exam; however, it is highly recommended that students study that list and make sure they are familiar with all the terms on it in preparation for their final exam. For the writing portion they should review the last 3 books read in class; Bud, Not Buddy, Flush, and World Without Fish. These three books are available in the classroom and students may borrow them to study from on their own if they choose. They should make sure they understand the characters, plot and major themes from each of the three books.
